Luisa Consta Carla Llanos Murillo was born in La Paz, Bolivia.
Luisa immigrated to Queens, NY at the age of 5 with Abuela Consta, her maternal grandmother then moved to Providence, RI with her sister Shirley and her parents.
As an immigrant child, Luisa entered the Providence School System at a time when it did not have an ESL/MLL Program.
Luisa has spent over 35 years working with nonprofits in RI in the areas of research, policy, advocacy, social services, hunger/food pantries, domestic violence, environmental justice and leadership development.
Collita Creations will launch Collita Love,
a trilingual poetry collection that weaves poems on social justice sharing Luisa’s nonprofit work, magical realism and her personal experiences, in particular as an immigrant.
